We love to experience and photograph the Beautiful Grasslands and Badlands of western North Dakota and Eastern Montana. You don’t need a lot of time and money to enjoy the food and fare of western North Dakota. A short little “mini-vacation” is as easy as this (click).
So, when we are out and about, we plan on places to eat! Among countless eatery choices, these are some of our favorites!
Four Corners Cafe & Catering, Fairfield, North Dakota
Why: The authentic Ukrainian fare is second to none! The wide variety of menu selections is some of the best home cooking we’ve ever experienced. Four Corners Cafe & Catering is a hidden gem, and well worth the drive! You’ll find no friendlier folks than Jesse and the staff at Four Corners.
Where: Right on North Dakota Highway 85 north of Belfield, south of Grassy Butte: 2000 Highway 85 SW, Fairfield, North Dakota
Meadowlark Brewing, Sidney, Montana
Why: We’ve found the assortment of fine brews and exquisite menu items at Meadowlark Brewing a unique find in eastern Montana. The service is always topnotch; informative, efficient, and very friendly, The servers always go the extra mile to make sure our dining experience is a good one. A stunning, modern interior, open views of the brewing area, a stage for performers, and roof top dining make Meadowlark Brewing a favorite place of ours!
Where: Meadowlark Brewing is located on the main thoroughfare through Sidney, Montana, in the heart of the downtown business district: 17 S Central Ave, Sidney, Montana.
Williston Brewing Company, Williston, North Dakota
Why: The decor and high seating capacity of Williston Brewing Company might surprise you! It’s modern, cosmopolitan feel is unique and very welcoming! The cozy atmosphere offers a variety of comfortable seating options, including easy chairs near a fireplace. The extensive wine selection is astounding! The large menu is varied, and well prepared and presented. Don’t bypass the Carrot Cake! (and plan to share it….it’s huge!)
Where: Williston Brewing Company is adjacent to/connected to the El Rancho Hotel . It’s located north of the downtown area, and south of Highway 2: 1623 2nd Ave West in Williston, North Dakota.
Burly’s Roughrider Bar & Steakhouse, Belfield, North Dakota
Why: This eating establishment includes seating in the bar area, as well as in a large dining room and a new outdoor seating area. Families are welcome at Burly’s. The variety of menu items is impressive! We like the friendly and fast service, and consistently well prepared food. We love the burger selection, and have heard from many locals that the entrees (especially steak!) is wonderful! We’ve never been disappointed in the food or service at Burly’s Bar & Steakhouse in Belfield!
Where: Burly’s Roughrider Bar & Steakhouse is located right uptown in Belfield, North Dakota at 125 Main Street North, just a few blocks west of Highway 85.
2 7/8 – The Pipe, Killdeer, North Dakota
Why: The large and comfortable interior of this eatery in Killdeer, North Dakota is surprising. The great food and extensive offerings (including special promotions and events, many fundraisers) are a special treat, especially after an extensive and intense hiking experience in Little Missouri State Park, north of Killdeer on Highway 22. Super friendly staff and gracious proprietors make this a favorite place of ours as we travel to and from the badlands!
Where: Right on Highway 22 on the south edge of Killdeer: North Dakota, 355 Highway 22. Just north of the roundabout on Highway 200/Highway 22.
