The weather is warming at last. The daylight hours are getting longer. School is soon out. Western North Dakota is gearing up for tourist season! We were in iconic Medora, North Dakota this past week, where we saw many signs of summer! Stay tuned as we travel west again to record activity as venues open for the tourist season, and the energy of the area rises!
Guests are greeted at the Medora Musical Welcome Center at the top of the amphitheater at the Medora Musical in North Dakota.

The Chateau De Mores, Medora, North Dakota was the beloved home of Antoine de Vallombrosa, the Marquis de Mores, and his wife, Medora.
A coffee shop with real good coffee and a super selection of delectable treats (shortbread!) is Hidden Springs Java. The friendly service can’t be beat!

The Old Town Theater in Medora, North Dakota is home to a gallery of beautiful paintings as well as a stage and auditorium for performances.
We traced Old Highway Ten as far as we could before it disappeared under present day I-94 east of Medora. This is the heart of historic cattle country! Yes. There are real cowboys here!
We didn’t feel alone as we traced old highways on the back roads of the Beautiful Badlands areas of western North Dakota. Somehow, these curious bovines seemed to welcome our slow drive past their home.
Next week we’re headed back to Medora. We’ll stop in at more of our favorite places, like Medora Uncork’d, Chasing Horses, and the Taffy Shop. Stay tuned!
Travel north on Highway 85 and you’ll come to the booming cosmopolitan cowboy town of Watford City! Check in at the Long X Trading Post Visitor Center/Pioneer Museum of McKenzie County. and the McKenzie County Heritage Park. Friendly, knowledgable people will show you an astounding museum collection. Don’t miss the Beautiful Badlands ND gallery showing! Prints for sale, of course!
