Rain and Hail !
North Dakota provided unexpected vistas as we hiked the Nux Baa Gaa Trail. Our goal was to view the area to the west, once the location of Elbowoods and the original Four Bears Bridge. The history to be found in that area is astounding! Views and information found along the trail, which is part of the Lewis and Clark Legacy Trail System, tell a story which is quickly being forgotten.

And Rainbows, Too
As our hike and picnic ended, the skies began to change quickly. We packed the Jeep hurriedly and followed the developing storms as we drove historic Highway 1804. Across the prairies we could see intense walls of rain, and distinct evidence of hail pounding the landscape. Luckily, we found shelter when the hail hit us. Our drive home took us between large storm systems and gave us tremendous views of the magnificence and power of nature!
