Bull Moose Run

The BULL MOOSE MUDRUN is a BADLANDS OBSTACLE COURSE RUN inspired by Teddy Roosevelt’s daily routine, that he designed because he thought Americans were quote, “getting too soft!”  The rules were simple: the president would pick two points, Point A and Point B, and no matter what was in the way he would challenge himself, and whoever he could get to join him, to go OVER, UNDER or THROUGH any obstacle that was in the way until they reached Point B… If that sounds like fun to you then this is YOUR race!

Date & Time

6.6.2020, 1:00pm MDT! Don’t be late! Mrs. Medora herself will be starting the race by shooting her pistol in the air, while riding her horse. If that’s not cool enough for you, Mrs. Medora’s good friend, Theodore Roosevelt himself, will be racing right along side you!

Medora, ND Badlands. The start/finish line will be at the Medora Family Fun Center, located just west of downtown Medora, on Pacific Avenue, at the entrance to the Medora Campground. Ask anyone in town where it is, or use GPS coordinates: 46.918115, -103.534459

Racecourse

This dig is co-sponsored by the North Dakota Geological Survey and the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. After dinosaurs went extinct, crocodiles became the dominant predator in North Dakota, and the environment turned swampy. In Medora, we will be digging in Sentinel Butte Formation rocks, 55-60 million years old. This site is rich in a variety of swamp denizens, including crocodiles, giant salamanders, fish, champsosaurs, clams, snails, and more. The rugged badlands in the nearby Theodore Roosevelt National Park may also be a draw for those not interested in digging in the dirt.

Full Days: June 18, 23-26 (Minimum age of 15)

Family Half Days: June 19, 20, 21 (AM & PM) (Minimum age of 10)

Adult Half Days: June 27 (AM & PM), June 28 (AM only) (Minimum age of 15)
