We hit the jackpot at our first terrific food truck rodeo

The movable food truck rodeo shows up in different North Dakota cities almost every weekend.  The food trucks are from all over the state, and they converge at each food truck rodeo to serve up a gastronomical delight.

That’s why we wanted to hit the rodeo in Watford City.

We knew food trucks serve meals around the state — we’ve eaten at a few. But when they converged in one big food truck rodeo in Watford City, we didn’t know what we were in for.

It was more than we could eat at the food truck rodeo

I guess that made it a good reason eat more.

Once we got inside the gate the McKenzie County Fairgrounds, we eyeballed the crowd to see where to dive in.

We wandered down the line of food trucks — each with full menus of meals and treats.

Every truck we passed caught our hungry attention as you can see in this video — the sizzling meat

and that popping?  Well that’s kids having fun!

Toy guns popped away.

Our food selection at this food truck rodeo was from a Bismarck food truck.

We chose a smoking barbeque mac and cheese called “It’s All I Want.”

And a hefty sandwich called “Slap Yo’ Momma!”

The food extravaganza cannot be consumed on one day. That’s why the food truck rodeo ran three days at the McKenzie County Fairground, June 3, 4 and 5, 2022.

The summer is packed with events in McKenzie County this summer including a rendezvous at Fort Union Trading post, a big PRCA sanctioned rodeo and a powwow at New Town.

Our Things to Do calendar will give you all the info you need to plan your visit. There’s no need to spend a lot of money driving to distant locations.

Watford City is the hub for all the events as you can see when you click this link
