Deer. Oh dear! There are times we’ve driven through the badlands and not seen much wild life. But then there are times when it abounds! On this visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park on a warm day in mid December, animals abounded. And they bounded in front of us!
As we drove around a bend on the Scenic Loop of Theodore Roosevelt National Park we came upon a group of deer . Most were skittish and ran from us. The big guy, however, stood mighty and majestic near the top of the ridge, studying us. Checking us out. We did the same to him.
I doubt he felt much threat from us. I think, rather, we were of little interest to him and he wanted to join his harem. We watched as he leaped along, knowing when to cross in front of us safely. With just a bound he propelled himself over the roadway ! What ease he displayed in doing so! Each time we visit the badlands, each time we investigate Theodore Roosevelt National Park, we experience new wonderment. On this occasion, this big buck was just that!
We saw and experienced much more on this visit to the park. We discovered a skeleton! Read about that here: First Bones, Then Darkness!
And then there’s the time we didn’t realize just how slippery it was! Find out about that here: It Didn’t Look That Slippery!
